Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company strives to educate our community and keep the people we protect as safe as possible. Below you will find information on hazard awareness and fire safety. Remember fire prevention and safety starts with you!
Kids Fire Safety
“Learn Not To Burn” is a crucial principle, especially for kids. It’s important to remember, if your clothes catch fire, you should immediately ‘Stop, Drop, and Roll!’ Always cover your face with your hands to protect it. Remember, fire is a tool, not a toy, and it should never be used for play or amusement. Safety must be a priority.
Adult Fire Safety
The following information is a tool to help keep you and your family safe. Home safety starts with the parents. Deaths from fires and burns are the fifth most common cause of unintentional injury deaths in the United States (CDC 2005) and the third leading cause of fatal home injury (Runyan 2004). The United States mortality rate from fires ranks fourth among the 25 developed countries for which statistics are available (USFA 2007).
Although the number of fatalities and injuries caused by residential fires has declined gradually over the past several decades, many residential fire-related deaths remain preventable and continue to pose a significant public health problem.
